What is podiatry?

Podiatry is a branch of medicine concerned with the treatment of feet. The foot is a very complex structure that is required to meet the demands of body weight, stability and propulsion throughout the gait cycle. If the feet are not efficiently cared for many, sometimes severe, complications can result. Foot disorders may furthermore be associated with systemic conditions such as diabetes.

Podiatrists possess an impressive wealth of knowledge regarding the entire body as a means of determining the etiology and implications of many foot disorders. Podiatrists, as medical feet specialists, are therefore at the forefront of diagnosing and treating foot complications. Patients are advised to visit their podiatrist as soon as the need arises. This is because the speed and effectiveness of treatment is often contingent on the interim between disease onset and treatment administration.

Many foot deformities are manifested during an early age and podiatrists are trained at both detecting such conditions and implementing strategies that serve to prevent further damage.

Our Logo: As a Christian, I’ve always believed that there’s a level of nobility in the podiatry profession reminiscent of how Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. So, when it was time to design a logo for our medical pedicure offices, I wanted one that reflected this and selected the Spikenard plant to depict the time Mary bathed the feet of Jesus using Spikenard oil.
